Joint Ventures, Due Diligence & Funding
If you own land with the potential for hydropower but do not want to provide all of the necessary funds we may be still able to help.
For larger projects, we may be interested in taking on the whole project including all financing and management. In that case we would pay a rent to the landowner, with the landowner not needing to put in any time or money at all.
We understand that people have different interests, priorities and resources and so where we think a site has good potential we are happy to be flexible. We are already working at sites under a variety of approaches. Please get in touch if you would like to discuss this in more detail.
Due Diligence
Taking the perspective of the funder or investor - again we can help. The niche nature of hydropower in the UK, and the diversity of potential projects, make it very hard to predict for anyone without plenty of experience. We are available to undertake wide ranging or more limited due diligence projects in UK hydro. Our range of relevant experience is ideal since we are hydropower investors ourselves and borrowers in non-recourse finance projects, whilst we also take projects from site identification right through to long term operation and maintenance.
ANAFON
Anafon Hydro is a community hydro project in North Wales, generating 270kW from a head of around 230m. Bank finance was arranged to fund a large part of the construction and installation costs and Derwent Hydro were appointed by the lender to undertake a technical due diligence exercise to inform the Bank's own considerations over the loan. In addition to providing prompt and clear advice to the bank we also enabled technical improvements to the project, which has been a great success. Jacqui Bugden said on behalf of the borrower that they appreciated that we: " ...communicated well, and were professional and thorough while also being relaxed and friendly.".
